The Five Biggest Gaming Technology Trends When it comes to many of the tech trends, the global video games industry is often one of the places where we will experience those in action.

1- Cloud gaming

Cloud Gaming Since the birth of home video, gaming in the have accepted the need to regularly upgrade to new consoles or computers to ensure they can play the latest and greatest releases. 

But many believe that this paradigm is coming to an end, including Microsoft, Sony, Google, Nvidia, Tencent, and Amazon, Almost all of the big players in offering cloud-based subscription services.

There’s no need to buy and upgrade for gamers. Expensive and power-hungry hardware such as a console or PC.

GPUs, smart TVs, and lightweight streaming devices like Chromecast or Fire TV are all that is needed because the heavy lifting takes place in the cloud data center, and the output is screamed into homes. 

The rollout of super-fast networks such as 5G will bring us to the point where this new way of delivering games will be available to mobile devices too, making it much more accessible to more people than ever.

2- Virtual Reality (VR)

Virtual reality gamers are among the first to embrace VR, and over the years, the uptick in VR has gradually increased as high-profile games like Grand Theft Auto, Minecraft, and Doom have become accessible via headsets.

The VR headset is also economical and works as a standalone device, and is connected to a gaming PC.

Cloud VR may become a reality shortly, which will reduce its size.

3- Metaverse

The meta versus why companies like Meta and Microsoft speak eloquently of their plans to create immersive persistent online worlds for work and leisure.

Many gamers are used to games like chess or poker using meta.

We’ll see these online gaming terms expand to other forms of entertainment, such as concerts, which we’ve already seen in Fortnite, or branded marketing pop-ups in the hugely popular universe of odds.

Esports exploded in popularity during the COVID-19 Pandemic and for the first time generated over a billion dollars in revenue in 2021. 

Income from media rights and sponsorships this year could increase to 2 billion in 2022.

We saw 73 million viewers watch the League of Legends World Championship finals in 2021, an increase of over 60% over 2020, and that record is expected to be broken once again in 2022.

The number and value of professional players could expand over the next year as this gaming develops.
