ChatGPT relies on the media to respond and CNN and Wall Street Journal want to charge you for it
This situation reflects the lack of transparency regarding how the information is being used to train ChatGPT.

Artificial intelligence tools drive the production of texts or the creation of images, this technology has triggered criticism related to intellectual property rights because the algorithms are fed by content published on the Internet.
Bloomberg reports that leading English-language media outlets are criticizing OpenAI for using their news and reporting without establishing any use and attribution agreements because ChatGPT does not display the sources used.
On the other hand, Jason Conti (editor of the Wall Street Journal newspaper) stresses in Bloomberg that “anyone who wants to use the work of Wall Street Journal journalists to train artificial intelligence must obtain the appropriate license for the rights to do so from Dow Jones”, also clarifying that “Dow Jones does not have that deal with OpenAI. We take seriously the misuse of the work of our journalists and review this situation.”
The case of CNN
CNN believes that ChatGPT is using its sources of information without permission. That means that the chatbot violates the terms of service, therefore, the newspaper will maintain conservation with OpenAI to clarify the situation.
