Zuckerberg releases new AI(LLaMA) to improve ChatGPT: aimed at researchers
The old Facebook aims to show that it does not think only in the metaverse. Meta, as its founder said at the beginning of February, wants to be “a leader in generative Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Meta has presented its own version of artificial intelligence a la ChatGPT this weekend. However, the platform that Mark Zuckerberg’s company has developed does not really have much to do with the OpenAI chatbot.
He is launching the old Facebook tool aimed only at researchers under a prior authorization, and he has called LLaMA (Large Language Model Meta AI).
It is not a chatbot like those launched by Microsoft or Google, but a program for those who develop this type of technology, and with which the company hopes to help “limit or eliminate” the current problems of bias, “toxicity” or “misinformation” that is weighing down these first results.

According to Meta, LLaMA is a “large, next-generation foundational language model meant to enable academics in advancing their work in this field of artificial intelligence” and aims to “democratize access” for those who lack the necessary resources to do so. It’s an assertion.
Despite recent improvements in big language models, she said, “complete access to their research is still constrained by the resources necessary to train and operate” such technology, making it more difficult to comprehend and address its issues.
LLaMA is capable of generating text and is trained in the 20 most widely spoken languages, especially those with Latin and Cyrillic alphabets, indicates the Meta press release.
The social networking company notes that it releases the tool under a research-focused, non-commercial license to “prevent its misuse” and will grant it, reviewing applications one by one to researchers associated with educational, government, and social institutions civil.
The announcement comes just a few weeks after Zuckerberg himself claimed that he aspires to be a “leader in generative AI” amid a race to develop artificial intelligence tools. Meta is not going to have it easy in little more than two months we have seen ChatGPT take off and succeed and Microsoft knew how to take advantage of that momentum quickly; Google isn’t lagging and has introduced its own conversational AI (Bard) and tools like MusicLM.
